Practical training for primary care teams
I provide practical, engaging training for GP practices and primary care teams, drawing on my experience in Emergency Medicine and medical education.
Training can cover essential requirements such as Basic Life Support and sepsis, or be tailored to the urgent care learning needs of your clinicians and practice.
Training for your practice
Finding training that is relevant to the realities of primary care isn't always straightforward.
My sessions are designed specifically for practice teams. They focus on practical knowledge and skills that people can use in their everyday work, whether that's responding to an emergency in the practice, recognising a deteriorating patient or making decisions about someone presenting with an urgent problem.
Training can be delivered as individual sessions or combined to meet the needs of your team.

Give your whole team the confidence to respond to an emergency
A collapsed patient in a GP practice is uncommon, but when it happens everyone needs to know what to do.
I provide one-hour Basic Life Support sessions for groups of 10–12 people, covering:
Assessment of the collapsed patient
Basic Life Support
Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Practical demonstration and assessment
All attendees receive a certificate following successful completion of the session.
Where clinicians are attending, an update on the recognition and management of anaphylaxis can also be included.
Multiple sessions can be delivered on the same day where training is required for a larger practice team.

Helping practices review their preparedness for emergency care
Immediate life-threatening emergencies in general practice are unusual, which is all the more reason to prepare so the team can function efficiently at a time of stress.
I've taken a practical approach to this. I wrote a GP Emergency Handbook summarising immediate treatment for seizures, collapse, anaphylaxis and basic life support, with an easy reference guide to emergency drugs tailored to the realities of general practice.
I've also helped a multi-site practice audit their emergency drugs and equipment, bringing every site in line with current guidance and reducing wastage from duplicated or unnecessary stock.
