This course is designed for clinicians, educators and healthcare professionals who want practical skills rather than technical expertise.
You might be curious about AI but haven't started yet. You may have experimented but aren't confident you're using it correctly. You might be sceptical and want to understand what the fuss is about without the hype. Or you may simply feel that everyone else seems further ahead and you're being left behind.
Whatever your starting point, if you work in healthcare and want to use AI safely and effectively in your professional work, this course is for you. You don't need coding experience or a technical background. If you can use a web browser and write an email, you can learn to use AI well.
What you’ll learn
This course focuses on practical skills you can apply immediately, not theory.
You'll learn where AI can save time, improve productivity and support your work across writing, planning, administration and education. You'll understand how to write effective prompts that produce useful results. You'll learn to recognise AI's limitations, including bias and hallucination, and know when not to use it.
You'll build repeatable workflows for real tasks rather than collecting one-off prompts. By the end of the course, you'll have a personalised AI toolkit: a collection of prompts, workflows and tools matched to your role and way of working.
Everything is grounded in safe NHS practice. Governance, ethics, appropriate scepticism and knowing when not to use AI are embedded throughout, not bolted on at the end.

There are plenty of AI courses available. Most are generic, technical and disconnected from real clinical work. This one is different for five reasons.
I am an NHS educator first, and an AI trainer second.
After more than 30 years in the NHS, including 14 years as an Emergency Medicine Consultant and over 20 years in medical education, I understand the realities of working in healthcare.I teach judgement, not just technology.

No. This course is designed for healthcare professionals, not IT experts. You don't need coding experience or a technical background. Everything is explained in plain language with practical, hands-on exercises. If you can use a web browser and write an email, you can learn to use AI effectively.
Is this safe to use in the NHS?

Patient safety and data protection are central to everything I teach. The course covers responsible use, confidentiality, recognising AI's limitations and knowing when not to use AI. I focus on non-clinical tasks where AI can genuinely save time while keeping your professional responsibilities front and centre.
Wherever possible, recordings and catch-up materials are provided so you can review anything you miss. For organisational training, sessions can be scheduled around your team's availability. If you have specific scheduling concerns, get in touch and I'll do my best to accommodate you.
