One-to-One
Career Coaching
Helping healthcare professionals make confident career decisions.
Coaching provides a structured opportunity to think clearly, explore possibilities and develop an action plan that reflects your own values and aspirations. Not someone telling you what to do, but someone helping you find the right path for you.
IS coaching right for you?
Career decisions in healthcare carry a weight that most people outside medicine don't fully understand. Years of training, professional identity, and the expectations of others all press in on you. It's not simply a question of what job to do next; it's a question of who you want to be.
You might recognise yourself in one of these situations:
Specialty confusion.
You're early in your career, unsure which direction to take. Everyone has an opinion, but the decision feels too important to rush. You may feel guilty for hesitating, or worry that not knowing yet means you're falling behind.Burnout and disillusionment.
You've been in your specialty for a while and the spark has faded. You're tired, perhaps burnt out, and quietly questioning whether this is still right for you. You may feel ashamed to admit it, even to yourself.Portfolio career exploration.
You're drawn to combining clinical work with teaching, leadership or something outside of medicine. You want flexibility and intellectual challenge, but you're not sure how to make it work financially or practically.Considering leaving medicine.
The thought is frightening but also, sometimes, a relief. You worry about starting over, losing your identity, and whether your skills translate. You need help thinking it through without judgement.Planning retirement.
You're later in your career, thinking about what comes next. Retirement isn't a single moment; it's a transition, and you want to plan it with the same care you've given the rest of your career.
If any of these feel familiar, coaching can help.
My coaching style
My style is supportive, thoughtful and practical. I won't tell you what to do, but I will help you discover the right path for you.
You already know more than you think. My role is to help you access that knowledge, test it against reality and turn it into decisions you feel confident about. No guilt. No judgement. No pressure to choose a particular path.
Everything we discuss is confidential. I understand that having career concerns as a medic is difficult. You may not feel comfortable discussing them with colleagues or supervisors. Sometimes even close friends and family can be judgemental. A coaching session with me is a private space for you to think clearly.
This is not lifestyle coaching. I only offer career coaching for healthcare professionals. My experience as a doctor, educator and coach means I understand the specific pressures you face.
Areas We Can Explore
Coaching can cover whatever matters most to you. Common themes include:
Career direction and specialty decisions
Portfolio careers and non-clinical roles
Confidence and professional identity
Career transitions, including leaving medicine
Work-life balance and finding renewed satisfaction in your work
Leadership and professional development
Planning the later stages of your career
You don't need to know exactly what you want to explore before we start.
That's part of what coaching helps you figure out.
Step 1
Free Strategy Session
(30 minutes)
We map out your situation, discuss what's on your mind, and identify your next steps. There's no obligation and no pressure. This session helps us both decide whether coaching is the right fit.
what coaching looks like
Coaching with me follows a clear, structured process
Step 2
Deep Dive Sessions
(Usually 3× 1 hour)
Most people have 3 sessions of about an hour each. We work through proven frameworks to help you gain clarity. These sessions are spaced over several weeks, with a minimum of six weeks from start to end, so you have time to reflect, try exercises and put our discussions into practice.
Step 3
Action Plan
(Your next step)
You leave with a clear, practical plan for your future career. Not a vague aspiration, but a structured set of next steps you can act on with confidence.
Sessions are held online, so they fit around shift work and busy clinical schedules. You'll receive a personal summary of each session, so you can focus on the conversation rather than taking notes.
I only accept three new coaching clients each month. That's deliberate. It means I can give each person the time, attention and quality they deserve.

FAQs
How many sessions will I need?
1
Most clients have three Deep Dive sessions in addition to the free Strategy Session. That's usually enough to gain clarity and build a practical action plan. However, coaching is flexible. If you need more time or fewer sessions, we'll discuss what works best for you.
What if I’m not sure coaching is right for me?
2
That's exactly what the free Strategy Session is for. It's a 30-minute conversation with no obligation. We'll talk about where you are, what's on your mind and whether coaching can help. If I don't think I'm the right person to support you, I'll tell you honestly and, where possible, suggest an alternative.
Is everything confidential?
3
Yes. Everything we discuss is confidential between you and me. I understand that career concerns can feel sensitive, especially when they involve questioning whether medicine is still right for you. You need a private space to think, and that's what coaching provides.
can sessions fit around my clinical schedule?
4
Yes. Sessions are held online and scheduled at times that work for you. I'm familiar with shift patterns, on-call commitments and the realities of clinical life. If you need to reschedule, that's fine.
do you only coach doctors?
5
I focus on career coaching for healthcare professionals. My experience as a doctor, educator and coach means I understand the specific pressures of NHS work, medical training and healthcare careers. That specialism matters because career decisions in healthcare are rarely just about career.
what does coaching cost?
6
The initial Strategy Session is free. Details about coaching fees are discussed during that session, once we've established what kind of support you need. Career decisions impact the rest of your working life. The cost of getting it wrong, in stress, time and dissatisfaction, deserves the investment to get it right.
