Background & Experience

I have worked in the NHS for over 25 years, with 14 years as a consultant in Emergency Medicine. Throughout this time, I've collaborated with health professionals across diverse clinical and non-clinical environments, gaining deep insight into the educational needs of healthcare teams.

My educational journey includes roles as Honorary Clinical Senior Lecturer at Newcastle University, Specialty Tutor overseeing all doctors in training in the Emergency Department, and Director of Simulation and Clinical Skills for Northumbria Healthcare Trust. This experience is supported by a Diploma in Medical Education and as a Member of the Academy of Medical Educators.

Teaching Philosophy

My core belief is that meaningful education must be both engaging and personally relevant. I never recreate the same teaching session twice - every session is tailored to meet the specific needs of the learners in front of me on the day.

For any education to be truly effective, it must create an emotional and personal connection with the learner while being enjoyable and memorable.
